Three-time award winner Jokic endures a 'gut-wrenching' knee injury.
Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic suffered a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Nuggets lost 147-123 to the Miami Heat.
Jokic was hurt in the latter stages of the opening half in an accidental coming together with team-mate Jones.
His teammate came down on the foot of the MVP, and he instantly went down to the floor clutching his leg.
The star, who tops the NBA this season in boards and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to suffering the setback.
Jokic will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to evaluate the extent of the issue.
"Immediately, Jokic realized he was hurt," said Denver head coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Any player that suffers an injury, that's gut-wrenching, particularly a player as talented as he is. We will know more tomorrow."
"We will continue together. Clearly, currently, I am more concerned just about Jokic as a person and the frustration of facing an event like that."
