The UK is set to progress with utilizing the total value of immobilized Russia's assets to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They added that the decision would be carried out in tight collaboration with the US.

United Kingdom penalties have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, up to this point, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had solely been sourced from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their aim to advance efforts toward employing the complete amount of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to end the war.

He noted that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on Russia.

This statement is subsequent to European representatives convened in Copenhagen last week to debate utilizing immobilized Russia's holdings for a €140 billion loan to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump urged G7 allies to take or utilize immobilized Russia's funds, according to reports.

The total of immobilized Russia's assets in the Europe is calculated to be nearly €211bn.
