The star has given the full amount of his £25k award winnings to the MVT, which works to preserve the UK's grassroots music venues.

The star was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his latest record People Watching was declared the best record of the previous year.

He has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part small stages played in his beginning days.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the shows I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these venues have ceased operations – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, well-known musicians such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the trust in its efforts to support the industry, by including a modest fee to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped locations that were dealing with possible closure due to issues arising from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Other venues obtained funding support in improving amenities and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The idea that funds from concerts in big venues supports the independent spots, where it begins for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

Fender is among several artists to give his award prize money to charitable organizations.

In Pulp earned the award in the mid-90s for their album Different Class, frontman the singer declared that the band would donate their prize money to the non-profit the charity.

During 2002, artist she split her bounty across a few charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite told the media.

Two years ago, they contributed their prize money to the local youth club that developed their group, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients the group gave their award to a MS organization after a friend was diagnosed the illness.

"Winning was quite enough," said singer the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory affected the lives of others."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had rescued two local spots in south-east England, by bringing them into local control.

The first in that area and the other in the city were bought under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who acquire "shares" in the venues.
