Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
